Effects Of Insomnia

The effects of insomnia can be devastating.. Sleep is very necessary in order to maintain good health, including both physical and mental health. There are a number of side effects to long term sleep deprivation, which can occur when someone suffers from chronic insomnia. This can be due to a number of different causes, including side effects of a drug, a medical condition, depression, or anxiety. Insomnia can also cause a person to be irritable, depressed, tired, and deprived of energy. It can also cause hallucinations and blurred vision.

Not only is it important to recognize the effects of insomnia, it is also important to be searching for a cure to your insomnia. The first step in this process might be to visit your doctor to try to figure out the cause of your insomnia, since this will make it easier to cure your condition. Following a set sleep schedule seven days a week can help, as can having a bed time routine that you follow faithfully each night. You should avoid taking any stimulants or eating a big meal near bedtime, or for a number of hours beforehand. You should also not exercise or read or watch anything too stimulating close to bedtime, as this will make it more difficult to get to sleep. Getting at least a half hour of exercise and an hour's worth of exposure to the sunlight can help with insomnia in some cases, as can drinking a soothing tea such as chamomile before going to bed.

Although there are many medications out there that are meant to help treat insomnia, these will not get rid of all the effects of insomnia. They can help you get to sleep, but it isn't a natural sleep so you can wake up still feeling restless. It is best to find natural methods to help you get to sleep and stay asleep such as those that are mentioned above. Some of the medications that are available for extreme cases are also addictive, so you really should try every other method, including natural medications like melatonin before resorting to these options.
