Symptoms Of Insomnia
Insomnia is actually more common than many people realize, with
up to one third of all adults suffering from this condition. Of all sleep disorders it has to be one of the most
frustrating because it robs people of their vitality in daily functioning. The common symptoms of
insomnia include not being able to fall asleep or waking up frequently during the night. Or it could be
when you do wake up, it is sometimes earlier than you want to and you do not feel rested.
Sometimes insomnia is caused by other conditions, such as
anxiety or depression. It can be an acute condition, or it can be one that you tend to suffer from regularly.
Regardless of its cause, all insomniacs are eager to find some solid cures. To do so, we suggest making an
appointment with your doctor if the insomnia is ongoing. Here, you can discuss your symptoms with them and they can
workout a plan to help find a cure for you which may or may not include prescribing some non-addictive types of
sleep medication.
If the problem is not this severe, natural remedies can be a
great antidote to your sleepless woes. One thing many people find helpful is to figure out how much sleep they need
if they want to be well rested, and figure out what time they need to go to bed in order to get that and get up at
the time they need to get up. Then start going to bed at that time and getting up at the normal time every day.
This means the weekends too, so that your body can get used to the schedule. Melatonin is a natural sleep aid that
can also be helpful, as can using a white noise machine. Avoiding things such as caffeine, alcohol, and cigarettes
six hours before bedtime, and not eating a heavy meal right before bed can also make it easier to fall asleep.
These natural cures can be effective at combating more mild cases of insomnia but are not really suited for more
acute cases.
If you do start to see the symptoms of insomnia appearing, it is important to take action sooner rather than later.
Early treatment can result in keeping a minor issue minor and avoiding more severe cases.
